Shortage of supplies; a fine bamboo bridge made by Lazemi |
text: |
To the junction of the Sidzu and Dzulu rivers. The Kijimatuma Gaonburas should have met us with supplies, but failed to do so and the dobashis, servants and dogs went hungry. About 9 miles. |

The Gaonburas turned up - latish and brought coolies and we moved camp to the Lazemi - Imphonoma path. On the way I saw the bridge Lazemi have made for this year's cultivation. A fine bamboo arch, sprung from two cantilevers and strengthened by cane ties to the adjoining trees, the arch being almost a semicircle and quite unlike the usual cane suspension bridge. About 7 miles. |
