to Tekhubama; upkeep of road |
text: |
23rd. Tekhubama - The 23rd mile is not properly maintained; there seems to be no attempt to plant or preserve roadside trees and the bridle path is obviously used as a cattle track. This is against orders, and it is quite possible to make a separate cattle track on the other side of the spur. (Inform the village that the rate payable is reduced to Rs. 25/- until there are signs of better upkeep). Part of the 24th mile has been burned by Kekrima. I want to know from the gaonbura who is responsible. One gaonbura applied for the contract for what is known locally as a "dapfu nullah" (- slab drain, but etymology and provenance of 'dapfu', unknown) just before the 24th mile stone, but I think it must be given to a proper reason. A rock needs blasting in the 25th mile. |
