march to offshoot village from Nimi |
text: |
10th. We had hoped to get up on to the high range - the main Saramati range from Nimi, but the villagers stoutly denied the existence of any paths or water beyond the cultivation which we could see. However we took the path that they said went furthest in the direction we wanted and after we had marched for 3 hours they told us that it led to a village, an offshoot of Nimi, but that it was too far to get there that day. After about 11 miles of very difficult going we camped at about 3.0 pm, in a nullah called Retiti under the high range and at the last point at which water was said to be available before reaching this village. The going in places was extremely bad and the coolies got along very slowly. |
