text: 3rd August. To Baga 10 miles 7-10. A pleasant march. There are a good many oaks in this area and the Subdivisonial Officer is going to have them planted along the bridle path. They will both give shade, which is badly needed, and reduce labour by keeping the ground under them clear of jungle.
text: There is a very strong fort just beyond where the Sangbar path joins the bridle path.
text: In the evening Mr. Calvert and I watched old Bania casting brass. His skill, with the most primitive instruments, was marvellous.
