text: 7th August. To Hojai. 11 miles. 7 - 12. Went up to Mabao on the way, an old Naga village reduced from 60 to 13 houses. The decorations in the 'Morung' are about the best I have seen. The rice in the old jhums is in the ear, but rain has been so scarce that the grain has not swollen properly. The change in the weather which has now come may be just in time.
