To Tuensang - 13 miles. We were delayed at the start by having to get some local coolies. The march began with a stiff climb of 2000 feet to the top of the range. Then we went along a knife- edge through heavy, cold jungle, and then down a long spur. Our camp was ready for us on the far side of the village. |

Everywhere off the paths here there are terrible panjis in the long grass. Another coolie was very badly gashed in the leg. He is suffering from shock and loss of blood, but will probably pull through. That makes three casualties we shall have to carry home. |
