My next spell out here will be my last, I hope. There is no room for the likes of me under the Reformed Constitution and I shall have earned my full pension. To stay out after that is only waste of money. The difference between pay and pension does not make up for the expense of a possibly divided establishment, awful duty and postal rates on everything, and the very high cost of living out here. |

And I'm beginning rather to long for England now. I suppose it's because I'm below par. My collecting will consist of looking through the rubbish heap of any old curiosity shops I can find! All sorts of odds and ends are sold for nothing because people do not know what they are. |

The Nagas are not changing fast. This slump has made coin hard to come by and less European stuff is being bought in Kohima Bazaar. The restless birds across the frontier raid as they always have done. We have barred the use of guns in Konyak raids in the Control Area. They were too destructive, and rather unsporting.
