text: To Kanduma. There are 15 Kuki houses and 8 lie between Tapama and Phuima I find. They say that Mr. Barnes ordered them to return to Kanduma but Anam dobashi whose home is there may have got some permission to make a village there I must find papers. I spent a long time trying to spin with the Kuki machine but could not manage it though it looks so simple.
text: Went to Dupema a tiring climb. The village numbers are stationary. Crops were fair last year. There is a clay not (sic pot?) making industry. Went on to Henima a long day which tired my heart with its steep climbs and too much hurry.
