Counted Henima. Increased houses by four. The dispensary has moved to the Thana buildings which are being done up by Mistris. They are excellent order and there is room for an indoor department. There is at present only a chowkidar. An experimental indoor department could be started with one more general servant. If a plain's doctor only is available a low caste Hindu or even a Musalman would be preferable to the unfortunate incumbent. I made enquiry about a Naga Compounder. The only Kacha Naga who had any education is the son of the up-country chowkidar who had a Kacha Naga mother and has been brought up as a Kacha Naga. [note in margin: Yanging of Henima has some education and is a candidate for the job 14.5.20] It is very doubtful if a Kacha Naga from any other part of the country would spend his life at Henima. I will see if there be any other candidate for Compoundership at []ima. (42b) It will take years to train and educate the chowkidar's son and he must have a definate promise of a post in the Medical department before he starts. Dupema has two boys who say they are willing to read in Kohima school if they get scholarships of Rs10/- a month but they are at present entirely uneducated.
