text: To Sarama. There are 67 revenue paying houses same as last year and only one 'muaf' old woman. The crop last year were fair. I seized a red cloth got by Kyakpo of Sarama in part payment of debts by the Kabui village of Undaimai in Manipur. I will ask for enquiry to be made about it in Manipur.
text: To Sailim. I saw a sentry box near the village and found it was to prevent Bapugwema entering who had an epidemic in February. A number of people died.
text: Counted Sailim. There are only 34 houses as against 86 in 1905. The Goanbura wants to get his old power of hearing cases revived. It is said he was deprived of it and I will look up in office. [Note in margin: The power was only given to Sailim not to any one else & Sailim is dead.] I met the Bapugwema Goanburas on the road and found that 33 people died in February of what by the description must have been influenza and pneumonia. After 18 people had died they went to Henima and reported to the Sub- Assistant Surgeon who gave them a bottle of medicine and told them to come back if it did no good as 15 more people died but as they had lost faith in Government medicine they did not go back. [Note in margin: The doctor if of any use could have visited the village. 14.5.1920]. On return to Kohima I shall write to the (44) Civil Surgeon to request an explanation from the Sub-Assistant Surgeon as it is a most serious matter. I had no report of this out-break. It is only 8 miles from Henima. The Goanbura was late in reporting it but he did do so. I shall visit the village tomorrow or the day after.
text: Counted Jasama. I increased the revenue paying houses by one, the village had good crops last year but have sold their surplus stock and I cannot get any for Bapugwma which has eaten even its seed dhan.
