text: (138) Feb: 13th, 1939. Nungbi Khunao - 10.
text: Nothing like writing up one's diary days late. This is actually 16th name of village doubtful, but Kholen Khailet never got written up at all.
text: Left dak bungalow, Ukhrul, more or less to time. Celia unable to come, so took only 10 coolies (Ukhrul). Rain threatening, weather very cold. Mingting came a mile or two, and then turned back, leaving me feeling very forlorn at the head of my little cavalcade. Kept on stumbling and on long downhill to river developed sore heel. Colours lovely, many pines, hills brown and green and rain-blue. Rain began, just specks. Reached village about 12.30 and was met by relays of reception committees. Good basha.
text: Produced tripod, typewriter and photos. Crowd burst in verandah rails. Yartong's photo terrific success.
text: It then proceeded to rain, with thick cloud (139) and driving wind. Built fire in verandah, to risk of basha, and coolies came and sat by it. Very cold. Wind howling through basha.
