text: | Done for a slip in the jhums. Performed by tingkhupeo. A pig is offered to appease the hera who caused the slip and prevent it causing illness in the family and to reassure any of the rice, which may have fled in fear at the slip. The rite is performed in the path leading to the jhum in question, but may be done in the jhum itself if near enough. The plants hpe, ngkwongtsing, pung-ring (which has a scent and is worn by young people). |
