text: Twenty or thirty yards from the inmost granaries the main village street (kuloa-ning: "within the village") and the village proper begin. The houses stand close together, their eaves almost touching. In villages, such as Asalu, from which there has been emigration, vacant house-sites are taken up by small fenced garden-patches (krre-poina), [7 [Record T86711]
