text: 12th Decr. Very foggy next morning. Started abt 10 o/c. Delay abt coolies & very few brought after all so that 20 loads were left behind. Country here flat with here & there very low ridges of metamorphic rocks shewing above the surface. Country pretty well-wooded but a good deal of rice cultivated & crops now being cut very heavy. I felt so done abt half way I stopped & got some eggs cooked & some soup wh: set me up & I got on into Golaghat abt 5 o/c. Met Mr James of the Naga Hills & Mr Stevenson a tea planter as we rode in. They asked us to dine but I cd not go & I turned in as soon as I possibly cd. while Ogle went off much against his will as he was rather tired. Had a bad night & felt very seedy all next day (13th). Cough bad. Wrote letters & mooned abt.
