text: Luckily the moon was risen & we had a lovely moonlight night for the rest of our march in. Butler with the camp had made a tremendous long one of some 20 miles, so that we did not reach camp until past 10 o/c, very tired, very hungry & very grumpy. However dinner very soon cured the last two & bed the first. Night was very cold. Ther 25 degrees & a hard white frost covered the whole country & with the leafless trees gave a very wintry look to the place, when we first turned out about 6.30 am.
