text: (57) Very hazy during the day so did not start to Nongmaiching as I had intended. Rained on & off during the morning but cleared towards 4 pm. Wrote letters & made out Contingent Bills. Went for ride with T & B along the side of the river Imphalthurel. It was my first experience of a Munipuri saddle & I must say they are abominable for the sides sloping backwards unless one rides with the extremely short stirrup of the Munipuri who gets his knees up under a kind of projection in front, one is very apt to glide off on to the pony's rump and the stirrups are not large enough to take a boot in so that on the slightest pressure out comes one's foot. Heavy storm of rain & wind with thunder during the night, it was brewing when we were out for our ride. Heavy black clouds driving up from the WSW.
