text: Went to see Butler about 4.30 or 5. Found him unconscious and not in a hopeful state. When I got up Elliott told me the end was near - Stertorous breathing having set in. I was talking to Walter Butler about 7 am about arrangements (3) when Memaram who was with Butler sent for us and going in found he had passed away. Arrangements at once made for starting and at 9 the camp moved off; and at 10 we followed having fired our huts and remaining rice. We reached Lakhuti at 12 and had breakfast. I made a sketch of Pusiniu. Sent a letter by him to Ogle. Reached camp below Buragaon about 6. Damp night.
