text: Thursday 20th.
text: Marched to the two villages of Changse in skirmishing order. Consequently did a mile an hour. Villagers protested innocence, but had removed most articles of value from their houses. Burned both villages. Back about 3. Found Hinde had come up with big (6) demiofficial letter from Col. Keatinge appointing me to civil charge of exploration party with Hinde as my assistant. Bullying me also about the telegram to Pioneer.
