text: (Cloudy - dull day. Road from camp here good and pretty level. Part of way through forest. Length about 5 miles. Height Solachu or Singrachu 4060/4210 M = 4135 and at mark height 4230 Molotombia or Mobomchokit = 4470/4340 M = 4410. These are Dupdoria villages. Height of camp 4160/4020 M = 4090. M = 42o.)
text: Up early. Left Col Tulloch to bring camp etc to Solachu and went up hill. Searched about for point for mark without success. Long, densely wooded hill which would require an infinity of cutting to make a point of. Probably that a point couldn't be found on it which should command all the other stations which must be visible from it, as some of them such as Nankam and Susu are low and the latter especially might be interrupted by some other hill tops. No point could possibly be found which could show them all and allow of observations to East so decided to come down and try for a point near Molotombia. Arrived in camp halfway between Solachu and Molotombia about 11.30. Good camping place. Water a little far off and not very plentiful down khud to N.E. After breakfast went through Molotopia (sic) to find and look for station; not possible to get one. Went back to Solachu and found one at entrance to village. Got up a mark there. Made sketch of a face composed of the features of about four Nagas, as each model as he became aware that my glances were directed at him explicitly remembered that he had business elsewhere. Solachu is a long serpentine village containing about 250-300 houses and belongs to the Dupdorias. Molotombia have Kotokis who I hear are collected at Deka Haimong, having left here after a few days stay contrary to orders. Induced the Molotombia gaonbura to send to tell them to meet me as soon as possible. Molotombia is a largish village with big houses about 200 in number. There is a smaller village of Solachu just N. of the other and has about 180 houses. Jami N. of Molotombia is a small village apparently about 150 houses at most.
