Up early. Marched to Okha village. Large numbers of Nagas in jungle and banks of river all armed. Near village saw them in jungle by road side. Extending the men the Nagas attacked them with stones. Of course firing at once commenced and as we afterwards heard 4 men were killed and 8 wounded. Two of the former were from Yakchu. Occupied the village. Went out to look for water. Found it. Went back to village to breakfast in morung and formed camp just outside. Put up plane table and afterwards shaded it. Went into village in evening for short time. Shot a few fowls etc. |
