text: The sanctioned strength and organisation of the combined transport corps ( On account of the excessive exposure and hard work entailed by transport work in the wet season these allowances were afterwards raised to:- Native officers Re.1; Non- Commissioned Officers annas 8; Sepoys annas 4. This was to be for the rainy season of 1880 only, and was not to be considered a precedent. ( Military Department No. 4731S.T., dated Simla, 30th July 1880.) In the Duffla expedition the Native Non-Commissioned Officers ( 1 per 100 coolies) received and extra allowance equal to 50 per cent of their pay.) was as under:-

text: (6) All the personnel were to receive free rations and kit on the scales already laid down. Twenty moochees were to be temporarily engaged as far as Golaghat to assist in fitting saddlery to the ponies on their disembarkation at that place.
