21st March, Monday. Moved camp to Inkes a Naga village containing 34 houses. The Chiefs came in as usual and paid their respects apparently very glad to see me. |

Our march today, though a short one being only about 6 miles, was over a most miserable road. The first two miles a precipitous descent down to the Chaline which crossed for the fifth time and then 4 miles of stiff ascents struggling through high grass jungle wet and dripping from last night's rain and so dense that it was with considerable difficulty we managed to see and keep to the path. |
