text: 24th March, Thursday. I started this morning with the intention of marching into Berumah but having succeeded in reaching Jotamah with a dry skin just as the rain commenced to pour down in torrents I thought it best to halt where I was specially as the Nagas very good naturedly placed two of their Dekka-changs (the houses in which their young unmarried men sleep) at my service so our march today has been a short one, about 4 miles I should think. Jatamah seems a peaceably inclined and well-to-do village and contains 55 houses.
