28th March, Monday. A most atrocious road of numerous steep ascents and descents over about 9 good miles brought us into Tehamah the last of the Kutcha Naga villages all east of this being Tengeemah. On our way we passed through Chahmah and Ralloomah, the former containing 38 houses and the latter 30. Chahmah small as it is, is so well placed for defence and so steep are the paths leading up to it that it would be almost impossible to take it were it well defended. Tehamah on the other hand containing 65 houses could make scarcely any defence at all. |
