text: 8th January, Sunday. Passing through the village of Jotsomah we moved camp today to Phessamah, a distance of about l2 miles. I had hoped that by coming on here we should have shortened our march to the boundary by one day but it unfortunately turns out that Phessamah lies too close under the high range and Mr. Ogle is unable to get a sight of the points he has fixed without going further back so I am afraid we shall have to lack [sic] back to Kohimah tomorrow.
