llth January, Wednesday. Finding that five of my men were suffering so severely from fever that it would probably knock them up altogether to proceed on to day and Mr. Ogle being anxious to ink in that portion of his Map that he has already sketched I decided upon halting though much against my will. In the course of the day I received a visit from Pulhutzo of the Merhemah khel of Khonomah who came in to assure me that his clan were most friendly towards me and that the only reason that had prevented them from coming in to pay their respects to me at Samaguting was the existence of the fued between them and Sumema. In the afternoon I accompanied Mr. Ogle over to Memah a village close by, from this village I was enabled to point out the course taken by the Seejo the river which I considered identical with the Maon. |
