13th January, Friday. We started early this morning and sending on our baggage direct to Tehrumumah proceeded ourselves to Sopoomah (a village which as I explained last year consists really of five villages) here I pointed out the sources of the Zullo or that river which Dr. Brown considers identical with the Maon and we then went round the base of the Tekatenga mountain and crossing one of the sources of the Seejo reached camp about 5.30 p.m. Here we found Tongal Major and some 200 Munneepurees Sepoys awaiting our arrival and I received a letter from Dr. Brown informing that as he considered no useful purpose could be attained by his meeting me before the arrival of the Boundary Commissioner he had decided upon halting at Meitheiphum (two marches from this) until he heard of that officers near arrival. |
