text: 1st November. No fever to-day and so I rode out to the Deopani and back in the morning and afternoon and tried a case of theft in the evening.
text: 2nd November. Out all day with the coolies at the Deopani and Kacharibheta where whilst having my breakfast a huge wild elephant came out and crossing the Dhansiri tried to get up the left bank within 50 yards of me but failed owing to its steepness and so swam back and disappeared into the jungle. The coolies declared they recognised him as a Rogue Elephant that for the last 3 years has been in the habit of provoking round Borpothar destroying their khets.
text: 3rd November. Out with the coolies as usual. Feeling all right again to-day.
text: 4th November. Rode out to the Mohmarajan (about 12 miles from Borpothar) to see after the repairs of some of the bridges along that portion of the road.
text: 5th November. Rode out to the Mohmarajan (about 12 miles from Borpothar) to see after the repairs of some of the bridges along that portion of the road.
