text: 23rd December. Moved Camp to the "Borpung", another spring very similar to the "Tarapung". This was a very short march in order to enable the coolies to go on and cut a path to the village of Hembe during the afternoon.
text: 24th December. Having breakfasted enroute at Hembe, I have encamped to-day at Hile. Both these are Rengmah villages on the right bank of the Kolliani so I am now once more fairly within my "de jure" (so to say) jurisdiction. Between these two villages flows the Dahirapani one of the largest feeders of the Kolliani. Yesterday I received another dak and in it a letter from Mr. Vernon the Executive Engineer at Debrugur telling me of his intention to visit Samaguting very shortly in order to advise me regarding the construction of a Reservoir, so I suppose I must abandon my original intention of returning to headquarters via Mohung Dijua or I shall not be in time to meet him.
