text: [21] 30th March, Saturday. Rain again last night. Moved camp to-day down into the valley of the Dhunsiri River and am encamped on the left bank of one of its feeders. It is difficult to say what distance we have come to-day, but I should say certainly not under 16 miles and our road could scarcely have been worse, often a mere track in no way distinguishable from the hundreds of others that crossed it in every direction and swarming with leeches to such an extent that I have pulled them off my own ankles in bunches of 5 and 6 at a time, besides which the weather was intolerably close and stuffy.
