I was rather amused at old Vicole the Penmah of Piphumah coming up and congratulating me on my safe return. |

8th December, 1872. Starting very early this morning we made a double march into Samaguting which we reached about 4 p.m. feeling rather tired and knocked up for almost the whole of our march today was along the bed of a river, at times wading knee deep in icy cold water and at others clambering over round slippery boulders. |
