text: 13th December. Marched to Horiojan about 21 miles and very long ones they are. I cannot help thinking the length of this bit of road has been under estimated. The jungle between Dimapur and Diphupanimookh has not been so well cut this year as it usually is. However the temporary bridges have all been put up and the road is clear and passable throughout.
text: 14th December. Marched into Borpathar, distance about 19 miles. Great improvement has been made in this portion of the road during the present and past seasons by avoiding all the low marshy bits of ground over which the road used to run in former days. Much however still remains to be done. Mr. James also arrived here this evening.
