text: 23rd January. Halted at Sikhami. Colonel Thomson received a message this morning from the Major to the effect that a bad cold prevented his coming on to rejoin us here, but as he added that he was quite ready to accompany him back into Manipur as soon as ever he liked, Colonel Thomson has written back to tell him that he cannot accept such a lame excuse and that he must insist upon his rejoining us tomorrow. He has also written another letter to the Rajah telling him of the report that has reached us regarding the Manipuri force said to be surveying the country to the North-East, and informing His Highness of his intention to accompany me on in order to enquire into its truth.
text: I forgot to record that Mr. Ogle rejoined us yesterday so our party is now complete.
