15th February. Leaving Austin and Ogle to come on quietly I rode on ahead and got into Manipur this morning at ll a.m. in time for breakfast. In the course of my ride, on which led over a capital road which is now being repaired in parts, I noticed that the valley was dotted over with numerous villages on either side. Austin and Ogle arrived late in the day and I was glad to learn the former had succeeded in getting in the position of the capital of Manipur on to his plane table. |
