text: l2th February. Halted in order to enable the survey work to be carried on. Our last two marches have carried us on rather too fast and Austin finds the survey cannot keep up with us at this rapid pace. I am sorry to say my old fever again paid me another visit today and so I was very glad of an excuse to halt.
text: 13th February. Marched Kaithelmambe road, fair the whole way. The latter portion was along the head of the xxxx River.
text: Marched into Sengmai, still keeping along the xxxx river, over a fair road the whole way. Here the Manipuries have got a "Thana" as they call it. An outpost however in this direction to be of any value to the Manipuries ought to be placed at Tengiphemah or better still in one of the villages composing the Sopvomah group.
text: Roma Sing came in this evening and informed me that the Rajah had sent out two elephants and three ponies for the use of myself and party so I hope we shall ride into Manipur comfortably tomorrow morning.
