text: 17th March. Thomson's coolies not turning up this morning I left him to come on as fast as he can and marching through Suchakamong (a village at which the Rajah has got a thanna), I encamped just below the small village of Lamlai close to the Laimakhong river. Here I found the remnants of Austin's camp and learned that he had only left this today about noon, having gone off towards Thengkasing (or the junction of the Ihang and the Iril) so I ought to catch him up tomorrow.
text: [5] 18th March. A short march today enabled me to rejoin Austin encamped on the banks of the Ihang.
