text: Mr. McCabe had again to cross the Dikhu with a force of 50 men to punish these villages. Both villages were occupied without opposition on the 23rd April, but on the following day an attack was made on a guard of 10 men which had been posted at Litam and in resisting this attack, 6 Mazungs were killed. On the same day an Ao coolie having been killed by the Mazungs, the latter suffered some further losses by way of reprisal at the hands of the Ao followers. Both villages were burnt on the 25th April.
