During the year ten Nagas were convicted in five cases of offence under the Penal Code. One was sentenced to a fine of Rs.2 and another to rigorous imprisonment for one month under section 379 for stealing some firewood and salt from a cart; four were sentenced to nine months' rigorous imprisonment under section 457 for stealing a cow from a Kaiya's cowshed; three to a fine of Rs.10 each under section 61a, Act VII of 1878 for illicit possession of hill ganja, and one to rigorous imprisonment of one month under section 9, Act I of 1878 for possession of contraband opium. |
