27. The general conduct of the Nagas was good during the year. There was an increase in the number of robberies on the road between Kohima and Nichuguard, but it is doubtful whether this can be entirely attributed to the Nagas as the construction of the cart road has caused a great influx of foreigners of all sorts into the Naga Hills and it may be presumed that many of these robberies were committed by them. |

A riot occurred between two khels of the Angami village of Phesama, one man was killed and many others were wounded, but not seriously; spears and daos were not used during the riot, only sticks and stones. There were no other serious cases amongst the Angamis. In the Ao subdivision, seven Ao Nagas of the village of Changki were convicted under section 304, Indian Penal Code, for the culpable homicide of an Ao Naga belonging to the village of Shitzu. There were no other serious cases in the subdivision. |
