text: There were only 6 cases under the Arms Act, against 28 cases last year. The Deputy Commissioner has reported that there are now very few unlicensed guns in the district. Of the 6 cases instituted, 4 ended in conviction. The Deputy Commisstioner having reported that the licensed vendors of ammunition in Cachar and Kamrup had been issuing ammunition to Nagas in excess of the quantities which they are permitted to sell to hillmen, stringent orders were issued with a view to putting a stop to the practice.
