15. The Rangpang Nagas did not come prominently to notice until a few years ago when enterprising thefts of iron rails and other iron railway material occurred at and near Ledo. The actual thieves are believed to have been the Nagas from beyond the Patkoi. This year one trans-Patkoi Naga was arrested and was found to be in possession of iron-cutting instruments. The conduct of the Sarkari Nagas in the Lakhimpur Frontier Tract and of the Barduaria, Namsangiya, and Barmithunia Nagas continued to be satisfactory. |
