16. Proposals were submitted during the year to the Government of India regarding the boundary of the area of political control to the east of the Naga Hills. The orders of the Secretary of State approving the boundary line of the control area were received at the end of the year. It will now be easier to deal promptly and firmly with trans- frontier villages. |

On the continued refusal of Sirichu, a trans-frontier village, to surrender a man who had murdered a British subject some years previously, the village was visited by the Deputy Commissioner in November with a platoon of the 3rd Assam Rifled and was suitably punished. Subsequently the culprit surrendered at Mokokchung and was placed on trial. |
