text: 3. The hill tribes continued to be administered by the President of Durbar and his two assistants from Imphal. The conduct of the hill tribes was good except for the unrest created among the Kabui and Kacha Nagas of North-West Manipur by one Jadonang Kabui Naga who claimed to be the Messiah-king of these two tribes. The arrest of this witch doctor and a prolonged tour of the Political Agent and the Deputy Commissioner of the Naga Hills with escorts of Assam Rifles through the affected villages quickly put an end to the excitement. During the tour it transpired that Jadonang was concerned in the brutal murder of four unarmed Manipuris who were journeying towards Cachar. He was tried for this offence and sentenced to death.
