When I arrived in the Naga hills in 1936, J.P. Mills was still in charge of the Naga Hills district, and it was my good fortune to join him on two tours, one through the country of the eastern Angami Nagas, and the second through the then unadministered tribal country close to the Burmese border inhabited by the hitherto virtually unknown Sangtam, Chang, and Kalyo Kengyu Nagas.
