In the old days the warriors often tried to capture a human head for this festival, and if they succeeded there was singing and dancing in ceremonial dress, but since the suppression of head-hunting the harvest festival has been celebrated in a calmer atmosphere. Unlike the harvest festivals of other nations it took place at the beginning and not at the end of the harvest.
