text: The alliances linking certain Wakching morungs with other villages was also manifested in an exchange of ceremonial visits. Thus, once a year the Thepong people visited the villages of Chingtang and Chinglong and the people of these villages paid annual return visits to Wakching. When the Thepong men went to Chingtang, they danced with the Chingtang girls, and, similarly, Chingtang men came and danced in the Thepong morung with the daughters and sisters -- but never the wives -- of the Thepong men. Sometimes the girls of a ward also went on such ceremonial visits and danced with the young men of the host village.
