Even on such ceremonial visits, there was an inequality of privilege between overlords and tributaries. While it was the recognized right of the Thepong boys visiting Chingtang to sleep with the girls of that village, a Chingtang man caught in Wakching in a similar adventure with a Thepong girl was fined.
