Shankok had also inherited similar obligations from his father. Two half-sisters of Shankok's father's father were then still alive, and both received annual gifts from Shankok. A third sister had died, but left a son, and he too was entitled to receive presents from Shankok. For each of these ceremonial gifts a return present had to be made, but the value of the exchange present was usually not even half that of the initial gift. |
