whereas at a view with court here held tuesday being 22.6.1568 Rich Parker was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs by the surrender of Nich Parker his father to one croft of land with garden enclosed and also to two crofts of land lying between Mylles Fenn and the brook containing 5a of land and to two crofts of land whereof one croft lies next to Great Sandhill containing by estimation 4a of land and the other croft of land parcel of Mylles Fenn and lying between the said croft of land and the king's highway leading towards Tey as it is clearly divided and shown by the metes and bounds as by a roll of that same court here in court it is clearly shown now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Rich Parker after the last court and before this court died and before his death he surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Hen Chancie instead of the bailiff in the presence of Thos Smithe and Robt Crowe two customary tenants the same witnessing according to the custom of the aforesaid manor all and singular his premises with appurtenances to the use and behoof of his last will and testament the tenor of which same testament concerning the premises in the following english words viz item I will and give to Rich Parker my son my house and land belonging to the manor of Colne Priory to him and his heirs upon this condition that he shall suffer his mother to enjoy the one half of the said commodity during his minority and if he do refuse so to do then my will is that she shall have hold and enjoy the house with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and to pay the said Rich my son the sum of 5li a year during his minority upon the demised premises item I will that if my wife shall marry again that then my son shall enter of the above mentioned premises aforesaid to him and his heirs and assigns forever and my wife to be void and frustrate of all the demised premises within six months after the marriage or solemnity as by his aforesaid testament here in court produced and shown bearing the day 4.3.1611 under the seal of the ordinary for this area and approved it is clearly shown and appears now to this court came the aforesaid Rich Parker and sought for himself admittance to the premises according to the aforesaid surrender to whom the lord by his steward granted thereof seisin to have to him and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown etc and was admitted and fealty was respited for him until etc and because the aforesaid Rich Parker is under age viz 16yrs or thereabouts therefore custody both of his body and of the said lands was committed to Margt Parker his mother her heirs and assigns until he should reach his age of twenty one years to take then the profits and rents
