and also at this court it was shown by the homage that Jn Churche gentleman late customary tenant of this same manor before this court died seised in his demesne as of fee of and in certain customary land held by copy of a roll of this same court viz one croft of land and one piece of the lords aldercarr called Bowltinghouse Croft and Boultinghouse Fen of a tenement and 30a of land called Clarks sometime in the tenure of Jn Clarke and late in the tenure of Thos Rolte which certain croft of land called Boultinghouse Croft lies between a lane called Boultinghouse Lane on one part towards the east and the aforesaid piece of aldercarr late of the said Thos Rolt containing 2a2r30p on the other part towards the west one head thereof abutting upon one parcel of land now enclosed against the kings highway leading from Earls Colne towards Halstead towards the south and the other head thereof abutting upon a way leading from Boultinghouse Lane as far as Little Bridgmans held of the manor of Earls Colne towards the north as by the metes etc and the aforesaid piece of aldercarr called Boultinghouse Fen lies between the aforesaid lane leading from Boultinghouse Lane as far as the aforesaid Little Bridgemans on one part towards the south and certain lands late of Ann Ashfeild called Hobstevens on the other part towards the north one head thereof abutting upon lands late of the aforesaid Ann Ashfeild towards the east and the other head thereof abutting upon the aforesaid meadow called Little Bridgemans towards the south as by the metes etc and the aforesaid croft of land and piece of aldercarr has the rent per annum of 2s10d and also one parcel of land now enclosed lying between the aforesaid croft of land called Boultinghouse Croft alias Stone Bridge Croft towards the north and the kings highway leading from Earls Colne as far as Halstead towards the south as by the metes etc whereof the rent per annum is 1d which same said premises among others the aforesaid Jn Church surrendered into the hands of the lord to the use of his last will by which last will the homage now showing bearing the date 23.2.1617 it is shown that the aforesaid Jn Churche gave and bequeathed the aforesaid premises to Jn Church the son junior and heir of the aforesaid Jn and his assigns the tenor of which same said last will concerning the aforesaid premises in these following english words item I give and bequeath unto Jn Church my youngest son three parcels of land called Stonebridge Ground or Boultingehouse Land lying in Colne aforesaid holden of the manor of the priory to have and to hold unto him the said Jn Church my son his heirs and assigns forever immediately after my decease now to this court came the aforesaid Jn Churche and humbly sought from the lord admittance for himself to the aforesaid premises according to the tenor and effect of the said last will of his father to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to have to him and his heirs forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
